What Was I Thinking
This going-back-to-school thing was a great idea, but strangely, it has turned out to be much more challenging than I'd imagined. It's not the work or the reading or being in class all day on Saturdays that has been difficult. It's the change in my usual routine -- and I'm still trying to adjust. I deeply resent having to go to bed early on Friday nights so that I can wake up by 7am. Friday nights were my time for watching movies from
Netflix, drinking my favorite
sparkling wine and just hanging out in my space. Saturdays were reserved for late afternoon visits to Eastern Market, after the morning tourist crowds had thinned out. And Saturday evenings were spent cooking fabulous meals from scratch, drinking more sparkling wine and dancing to the oldies and Caribbean music programs on WPFW, the local Pacifica Radio affiliate. Now it's early to bed on Fridays and early to bed on Saturdays because I'm too beat to do anything else. I dream of the time when, after Spring 2010, I'll be able to plan a vacation. In the meantime, photos from my last pre-school vacation, a visit to
Paris, have become so much more meaningful to me. Who knew that would be my last excursion for a long, long time.
Here are a few of those pictures
